To begin, you must do the following:
- You must be at least 18 years old. Possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. Be a legal resident of the United States and eligible to work in the country
Complete 90 hours of approved Pre-Licensing education.
- Complete successfully 90 clock hours of pre-licensing salesperson courses that have been approved by the state. Find out more about the many package options available to you here. The Unit I Salesperson Pre-License course, which consists of 60 hours of instruction, must be completed prior to sitting for the South Carolina salesperson licensing test. - You will receive an examination eligibility letter after your application for the exam has been approved. The eligibility to sit for the examination is only valid for one year. The South Carolina real estate salesperson license examination is administered by PSI. You will have 200 minutes to finish this 120 question test, which will be divided into two sections that will cover both state and federal standards. 120 minutes will be allocated for the 80-question national component of the exam, and 80 minutes will be allotted for the 40-question state portion. To get licensed in South Carolina, you must first be affiliated with a current and active sponsoring broker in the state. Currently, the vendor’s price is $63 for both components and $55 for only the State portion of the transaction. New Licensing Arrangement: 1. Renewals of salesperson, broker, and property manager licenses commence on the first weekday in May of the year in which your license is due to expire. Renewal notifications will be mailed out on that date as well. Prior to that date, you will not be allowed to renew your driver’s license. The license will expire on June 30th, at the latest. After June 30th of the year in which your license expires, your license is considered expired, and late renewal/reinstatement penalties of $15 per month will be charged.

Approximately 30 hours are required for the second component, “Unit II: Advanced Real Estate Principles,” which can be completed either before or after the test.
Pass the Course Final Exam
- After you have completed all of the course materials in South Carolina, you must pass the final examinations. The passing mark is 70 percent, which is the bare minimum. Proctoring is required for final examinations in South Carolina

Pass the South Carolina Real Estate Salesperson Exam

You should expect a processing time of between five and seven business days for the Commission to process and approve your exam application and materials after you submit your application to sit for the exam. There are 30 questions that are particular to each state and 80 questions that are specific to the entire country. For a passing grade, you must achieve at least a 70% overall score.
