Real Estate Commission How to Get a License

Have you ever been rejected a real estate or timeshare salesperson license or had your license revoked, suspended, reprimanded, or punished for violating the law? In the recent ten (10) years, have you been convicted of any crime or misdemeanor involving the theft of services, money, or property? Have you ever been the subject of a complaint filed against you with any regulatory body or with any court?
- It is important to note that reckless driving and/or DUI are misdemeanors and must be reported
- The Commission requires you to provide a certified copy of your criminal conviction record, as well as an affidavit detailing the specifics of each case, if you answer “yes” to question 5. Pre-license education and/or the licensing examination can be petitioned to the Commission prior to taking or finishing pre-license education and/or the licensing examination by submitting a “Application for Decision Regarding Prior Criminal Conviction(s) and/or Disciplinary Sanction(s)” which can be downloaded. The Commission will then evaluate this form, together with all of the supporting evidence, and you will be notified of their decision
A candidate who passes the examination and desires to apply for a license will be needed to submit the documents outlined in each of the cases above to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. It is not necessary to send the information to PSI, nor is it necessary to bring it to the test center. Anyone on parole or probation is not permitted to be scheduled for an examination under the rules of the Commission. Candidates must have been out of parole or probation for a minimum of two (2) years before being considered.
As of January 1, 2014, all licensees are obliged to submit to a fingerprinting procedure.
